The CSU Chancellor’s Office held its 13th Annual Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) conference at California State University Channel Islands last Wednesday. The conference also discussed alcohol and drug related trends among students, substance abuse prevention strategies, bystander intervention training programs, and college student mental health and wellness. Don’t be fooled, Greek life is more than just a party

I think that sometimes TV and movies can alter a person’s view of reality and I think in this case Greek organizations get the brunt of that. For example movies like “Old School” and “Animal House” can suggest that fraternities and sororities are around just to have a good time. “Some of the negative things I’ve heard are that the girls are easy and the guys just like to drink and party,” said Ashlynne Macan, a member of a co-ed fraternity at CSUSB. College may have its perks but when it comes to drinking and partying there are many downfalls when students abuse this privilege. We should all familiarize ourselves with them. Binge drinking, drunk driving, alcohol poisoning and others can lead to death and are just a few of the many irresponsible drinking occurances that students and others take on and they’re all things that we can stop. College Night Wednesdays

At least that’s what they’re doing on College Night at Brandin’ Iron Country Saloon and Dance Hall.
