Lubos PASO fundraises for the Philippines

Lubos PASO, the Filipino-American Student Organization, held their annual Fil Am Jam (Filipino-American Jam) on Thursday, April 26 in the SMSU Events Center which attracted more than 150 students and residents of the area. The event raised money and awareness for the indigenous people of the Philippines who need education and proper farming land. “This event is a great way to give back. Gift planning or donating money to CSUSB brings joy to those who gladly give to the university. Many donors have donated large sums to CSUSB to help aid the school in many ways. One couple, Mark and Lori Edwards, have set up a family trust fund to help aid foster youth to continue into higher education. Jack Brown donates $100,000 to scholarship fund
By KatherineValadez |Staff Writer| Jack H. Brown, chairman of Stater Bros. markets, donated over $100,000 to CSUSB for the university’s Rose Brown Scholarship fund. The scholarship was established in 2000 by Jack Brown as a tribute to his mother, Rose Brown on her 80th birthday. “He admired her for being widowed at a very young age, and she never remarried while she was raising her son,” said Carmen Murillo-Moyeda, a public affairs marketing specialist for CSUSB. Jack Brown, for whom Jack Brown Hall is named, created the scholarship to help widowed and single parents, according to Murillo-Moyeda.
