New Dean for Palm Desert

By Stephanie Para |Staff Writer| Dr. Sharon Brown-Welty has been named the new dean of the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. She will begin her position as dean on July 1, 2014. “We’re delighted to have someone of Dr. Brown-Welty’s stature in the education community as well as her vast experience as a university administrator to lead our Palm Desert Campus,’” stated CSUSB President Tomas Morales in a press release. Brown-Welty is currently the associate director of the doctoral program in educational leadership at Fresno State University. Women in faculty display power in a man’s world

By Erin Posjena |Staff Writer| In 2012, catalyst.org reports that women made up roughly half of the work force. However, women in power are not typically acknowledged as often as men are. CSUSB offers an array of positions of power, many of which are currently headed by women. To give an idea of just how many women are in power, we can look at the deans of some of the colleges here at CSUSB. The dean of the College of Arts and Letters is Dr. Terry L. New dean’s plan for CSUSB

By Angel Lizardi |Staff Writer| The new Dean of the College of Arts and Letters, Terry Ballman, offered her opinions on bottleneck courses and her plan for the college. During the interview, the idea of two definitions for bottleneck courses came up. “One, from what I recall concerns students that have difficulty with specific classes,” said Ballman. The second type was that some classes didn’t have enough section numbers, forcing students to have to wait to take those classes another term. Lawrence C. Rose new dean of College of Business and Public Administration

By David Medrano |Staff writer| It is official. The College of Business and Public Administration has a new leader: Lawrence C. Rose. He is currently the vice chancellor of the College of Business at Massey University in New Zealand. Rose is schedule to assume his position on Sept. 15. Andy Bowman, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, expressed his enthusiasm for the new dean. New Associate Dean of CEL chosen

By Omar Guzman |Staff Writer| CSUSB has appointed a new associate dean for the College of Extended Learning, Dr. Fabienne-Sophie Chauderlot. “Fabienne comes to us with a great deal of experience in higher education.  She recently moved from Europe, where she helped lead, administer and teach in business programs. She is now taking a lead role in directing our International Extensions Program.
