With a collection of walk-off victories, stellar pitching performances and outstanding individual performances, the team has turned heads and has shown their competitors that they are a force to be reckoned with. Recently, Darren Dworak and Ethan Chapman added to the team’s successes. Each were given first team All-CCAA honors after a season’s worth of hard work. Dworak, who plays third base, is currently a senior. He majors in kinesiology and hopes to coach high school baseball. Baseball suffers extra-inning loss
By Spencer Hirsch |Asst. Sports Editor| The Coyotes left it all on the field in a 16-inning, four-and-a-half hour marathon on the road on Sunday, Feb. 26 against conference opponent CSU Monterey Bay. Unfortunately, they fell one run short of a victory, losing in a 7–6 heartbreaker in the finale of their four-game series against the Otters. The Coyotes lost the series 3–1, which gives them an overall record of 6–7 and conference record of 3–5, fourth place in the CCAA. Day’s walk-off home run lifts Coyotes to victory
By Spencer Hirsch |Staff Writer| Brandon Day’s three-run walk-off home run on Saturday, Feb. 4 lifted the Coyotes to a 10-8 victory and a 2-1 series win over the Azusa Pacific Cougars. The senior first baseman had a miscue on a groundball that was hit to him in the top of the sixth that could have turned into a double play and a relatively easy inning for senior left hand relief pitcher, Josh Lee. The Cougars took advantage as they scored two runs to regain a one-run lead. “Physically it wasn’t there for me in the field today, but I knew I would get a chance to redeem myself in the ninth,” said Day.
