The Chicago born and raised artist opened up with the song “Father Stretch My Hands.” His stage setup was unlike any live performance that has been seen before. Pride Prom
By Stephanie Corral |Staff Writer| The Pride Center at CSUSB hosted their annual Pride Prom at the San Manuel Student Union fourplex on May 26. The prom this year was space-themed, titled Cosmic Queers. “Since it is an annual event we start planning in the summer, and choose the theme since then,” said Pride Center staff member Raul Maldonado. The event included decoration, food, music and a dance floor. “Because it is like a real prom, it gives members of the LGBT community a chance to bring someone or go with people they couldn’t have really gone with to their high school prom,” said Maldonado. Getting pumped for Halloween
By Lily Perez |Staff Writer| The CSUSB Recreation and Fitness Center (Rec Center) hosted Haunted Group Exercise on Oct. 30, a fitness event to welcome in the Halloween spirit. Students were invited to come and show off their favorite costumes, while dancing to Halloween-inspired music, all while getting a good workout. The day-long event put a twist on their regular scheduled classes, in hopes of motivating students to participate and get fit. Music and entertainment events like this one are a great way to meet new people on campus, especially for commuters. The live event will consist of singing, dancing, and comedy. Small Ensemble Night will take place in the recital hall of the Performing Arts building on campus. The San Manuel Amphitheater, located in San Bernardino and formerly known as the Glen Helen Pavilion, was a full house on this beautiful Saturday evening. The band is currently on their Great American Road trip tour and made a stop in San Bernardino to perform some of their most famous songs for their Inland Empire fans. Fontana hosted its Jazz 'n Art celebration in front of the Lewis Library on Feb. 22, where performers got together for an afternoon of smooth jazz and unique art. The night was filled with much excitement, including a talent portion, interview portion and a in formal wear competition. The CSUSB pageant gave all students a chance to enter a best dressed roaring 20's costume contest as well, which resulted in one lucky student winning two Disneyland tickets. The celebration was in honor of the SMSU, to commemorate its 36th anniversary. “One of the main goals for our SMSU birthday bash is to collect as much student feedback as possible,” said Alexsaundra Preston, marketing coordinator for the SMSU. The sixth annual Reggae Night was put together by the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) and Cross Cultural Center.
