By Taylor Glaze |Staff Writer| The Coyote baseball program has had major success after previous seasons thanks to new head coach David Martinez, who has helped turn the team around. Four months ago, the California Collegiate Athlete Association [CCAA] coaches believed that Cal State San Bernardino would struggle in its first season under Martinez, after finishing the last two seasons winning only 23 games combined. Coyotes take four game series with a doubleheader sweep
By Kaila Morales |Staff Writer| CSUSB baseball was able to defeat Cal State Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), winning three out of four games, with a doubleheader sweep in an attempt to clinch a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament. The Coyotes dropped the first game of the series on April 21, losing 2-1. Left-handed pitcher Don Sullivan got the start for the series opener at Toro Field. Baseball wins one, loses one in Monterey Bay
By Kaila Morales |Staff Writer| The CSUSB Baseball team secured a 5-1 win on April 9 against Cal State Monterey Bay, who are ranked 15th in CCAA baseball. The Coyotes faced the Otters in a doubleheader, earning a win and a loss on April 9. Their third match-up, that was supposed to take place April 10, was canceled due to rain. Game 1 resulted in a 4-1 loss for starting pitcher Tyler Wells, who allowed an unearned run to start things off in the first inning. Wells allowed a three-run homer in the third to CSUMB’s right fielder Justin Flores. Wells retired the next nine batters he faced with four strikeouts after he gave up the home run.
