Baseball takes 3-out-of-4 in Lancaster, Falls to KT Wiz
By Willis Torres |Staff Writer| Coyote baseball played their last four games in Lancaster, Calif. where they took three out of four wins against both the University of British Columbia (UBC) and California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). The first game against UBC's Thunderbirds, Coyotes dominated with senior Andrew Lopez hitting a home run to left field in the sixth inning. This brought in three runs against the Thunderbirds. The final score was 4-13 Coyotes. Two days later, the Coyotes played UBC again but came up short for the win with the final score 2-8 UBC. Instructors don’t get CSU support
By Taniya Harwell |Staff Writer| The California Faculty Association (CFA) has released the first document in their “Race to the Bottom” series, exposing how the Cal State University (CSU) system has failed to support its instructors. The “Race to the Bottom” series is a compilation of evidence by the CFA documenting the lack of wage increases for CSU instructors in the last 10 years. “It’s time at long last for the university to fix 10 years of problems,” said Lillian Taiz, a CSULA history professor. Men’s basketball still ranking number 14
By Ryan Navaroli |Staff Writer Coyote men’s basketball team defeated the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles by a landslide. The Coyotes played their best game of this season, with a victory of 92-51 over the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles Friday night. The game marked their largest margin of victory in the last five seasons. The No. 14 team in the nation has now won 14 consecutive games. The landslide win proves the Coyotes are a force to be reckoned with in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Women’s Soccer kicking into a great season start
By Richard Burrud | Staff Writer Coyote Women’s Soccer team took their fifth win in Sundays game against California State University of Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles and Coyotes were tied at the half, until freshman Paige Kang was able to capitalize on a rebound in overtime and was the difference maker in a close game against the Golden Eagles. Coyote defense held strong and according to Coach Travis Clarke, “if the team is able to score at least one goal in a game we have a great chance of winning”. Beginning the season 4-0-2, the losing streak placed the team at 4-4-2 overall and 2-4 in CCAA. It’s been a tough stretch for the Coyotes as they failed to score a goal in their previous three games losing 1-0. Despite having four key players injured, the Coyotes broke the slump when junior Omar Laris scored his first goal in the first half. The team scored in the last few minutes of the game. Women’s volleyball defeats rival CSULA
By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| CSUSB women’s volleyball comes out on top of their conference after they shut out rival school Cal State Los Angeles, Saturday Oct. 20. The victory marked the team’s third win in a row after they faced a bitter defeat against Cal State East Bay a week earlier that ended their eight game winning streak. After such a disappointing loss, head coach Kim Cherniss and her staff devised multiple strategies to bounce back and inevitably gain a winning edge in their upcoming games.
