By Kaila Morales | Staff Writer | The 2015-2016 basketball season came to an end this weekend for the lady Coyotes who were defeated 77-71 by Cal State Dominguez Hills. Although, this was the second straight year that the Women’s basketball team had reached the CCAA semifinals, it was a first for new head coach Sue Crebbin. Senior Alexcia Mack finished her Coyote basketball career at the top, earning three All-CCAA honors and became the first in eight years to earn consecutive first-team honors. She established a career free throw percentage record of .791, with a total of 1,255 points, 399 field goals, 341 free throws,115 three-pointers. Women’s basketball advances to second round of playoffs

By Jackie Monarrez |Staff Writer| That's a wrap on the women's basketball normal season. The Coyotes had the honor of finishing their last two regular season games on their home turf of the Coussoulis Arena. Coyotes' first game of the weekend was against Sonoma State Seawolves on Feb. 26. However, the Seawolves won this game 57 to 48. Senior Alexcia Mack shined in her second to last game of her regular season college career by scoring a high of 19 points and shooting two 3-pointers in the first quarter. Mack was the only Coyote who was able to reach double digits in scoring against the Seawolves. Coyotes defeat the Pioneers

By Uriel Ortega |Staff Writer| Coach Renee Jimenez’s Coyotes rallied back for her 100th win against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers at the Coussoulis arena on Saturday. For women’s basketball it was looking like another defeat for the underdog in the first half, as they struggled to slow down the Pioneers. Pioneers guard, Stephanie Lopez, was the leading scorer as she picked apart the Coyotes and finished the first half with two three-pointers. However, the Coyotes kept fighting back as guard, Briana Baker, stole the ball for a fast break layup and narrowed the score to a 32-23 deficit lead by the Pioneers. By Richard Dawson |Staff Writer| Junior forward Kwame Alexander and senior forward Theron Laudermill were recognized on Feb. 29 by the CCAA for their on-court impacts this season. Alexander was named to the All-CCAA’s first team and Laudermill was named to the second team. On March 7, Alexander was also named to Daktronics All-West Region second team.
