By Bree Reyes |Staff Writer| The CSUSB Music Department and Coyote Music Society will host a benefit concert in memorial for Danny Ramadan, a CSUSB trumpet player and graduate who passed away last summer. The proceeds from the concert will go to creating a scholarship under Ramadan’s name, upon which a CSUSB student majoring in music, who possesses stellar academic achievement, work ethic, and musical talent will be eligible to receive. “I think we all felt collectively as a faculty, and as students that we wanted to do something,” said Dr. Erik Jester, director of bands at CSUSB. “And being musicians, we perform music...I’m glad that the students and his friends that are alumni … [Read more...] about Celebrating the life of fellow ‘Yote

If you have the desire to experience performances or interact directly with the performers, the club is open to you, according to club president Cory Peters. The club aims to provide services and resources for its members, keeping them informed of future opportunities for musicians. CMS provides music tutoring for members who have the desire to read music or learn more … [Read more...] about Helping musicians become greater artists

February 22, 2013 by Archived posts 135 Comments

By Martin Solano |Staff Writer| On Thursday, Feb. 21, inside the Santos Manuel Student Union Events Center, I was able to witness the fun, dance and entertainment of the third annual Swing Dance Night. Over 200 students showed up to the event center to catch the wonderful acts and activities of this great night. As I was making my way inside, I was able to speak to Leslie Gonzalez, vice president of the Coyote Music Society (CMS). CMS was in charge of coordinating and sponsoring the event along with the CSUSB Music Department. I discovered that these dance events are held to help raise funds that create musical scholarships which are awarded to students majoring in music on … [Read more...] about Jazz ‘n swing dancin all night
