Women’s Soccer Ends Season with overall record of 5-10-3

By Sierra Marrero |Staff Writer| This year the Coyote's Women's Soccer team had a toss up of five wins, 10 losses, and three ties in the 2015 Women's Soccer season. Elevenn of the team's 18 games were decided by one goal. Only two of the team's games were decided by three goals. The Coyotes opened up the season with a win of 3-0 against the Academy of Art Urban Knights, and were able to exhibit dominance in their offense and defense. Freshmen Denae Verdine scored the initial goal and assisted in the remainder of the goals, as senior Melanie Aguayo scored the final two goals. Introducing Track/Field

By Nathaniel Lastrapes |Staff Writer| Women's track and field is coming to CSUSB and the team is excited to begin it's inaugural season on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Rossi Relays in Claremont. The track and field program is still in it's early stages and head coach Tom Burlesom is in the progress of building a team, as this is going to be their first season competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The track and field program has replaced CSUSB's women's Water Polo program, for budget purposes, which has been in CSUSB's intercollegiate program since 1999. Volleyball finishes off rough season

By Loydie Burmah and Javier Rodriguez  |Opinions Editor and Staff Writer| Women’s volleyball suffered defeat to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos 2-3 in the Kellogg Gym at Cal Poly Pomona campus on Nov. 8. Coyotes, unfortunately, ended their five match winning streak after pulverizing CSU opponents, San Fransisco Gators, Stanislaus Warriors, Chico Wildcats, Humboldt Lumberjacks, and the UC San Diego Tritons. Coyotes currently rank No. 18 overall and 15 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Winning streak comes to an end

By Jasmine Gonzales |Staff Writer| Coyote Sophomore Goalkeeper Emily Whyte puts up a strong defense against opponents leaving them with a 15 percent chance to score. The average percentage of scoring on CSUSB's opposing goal keepers is about 28 percent, states the CSUSB Athletics web site. In the Coyote's past two games Whyte blocked a total of 12 goal attempts. On Oct 3, CSUSB women's soccer team was defeated by the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Tritons 2-0.  The Coyotes attempted five shots in the first half while Tritons women attempted four but by the end of the second half UCSD had out shot the Coyotes 11-9. Water Polo working hard to get back in the game

By Uriel Ortega |Staff Writer| The Coyotes women’s water polo team suffered two defeats last weekend at the Redlands Mini-Tournament, losing to the Chapman Panthers and the Redlands Bulldogs. The Coyotes had their hands full, facing off against two of the top ranked division III teams to start the season. Coach Sarah Reneker and her Coyotes had been preparing for the mini-tournament for three weeks to confront two very worthy opponents. “We have been doing a lot of conditioning and have a small squad this year, but it’s beneficial for a lot of four-on-four scrimmaging, and we are looking to come out and put everything we have been working on into play,” said Reneker. Grand opening of Leadership Challenge Center

By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| Towering five stories high, the CSUSB Leadership Challenge Center is undergoing its final touch-ups preparing for its grand opening Wednesday, May 22nd. Mark Oswood, the university Recreational Sports Outdoor Coordinator, claims that this leadership challenge center is unlike any other challenge course in the area. “The center will be the first in the Inland Empire to encompass the needs of groups by allowing multiple participants to experience the high elements together,” said Oswood. Alyssa Flores leaves her mark on the Coyote athletic program

Devan Lee |Staff Writer| Alyssa Flores, senior third baseman for the Coyote softball team, ends her athletic career with honorable recognition and high hopes for her future. Born in West Covina, she was raised in Fontana after moving to the Inland Empire at a young age. According to Flores, the game of softball has been a beneficial aspect of life since she was eight. “I’ve been playing softball for so long I have just grown a passion for the sport,” said Flores. “It is designed to make you fail, so you learn do whatever it takes to win.” Her life on the diamond began with the simple game of t-ball. Softball cant pick up the Jacks

By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| It was a tough four-game series for Coyote softball as they ended their season with four straight losses from the Humboldt State Jacks the weekend of April 26. The Yotes traveled to Arcata, Calif.where they faced the Jacks, a CCAA regular season champion team with an overall record of 40 wins and 12 losses. Freshman pitcher Kacey Cota started on the mound for the Coyotes in game one. Cota had a rough start, allowing seven hits and eight runs total in the game. Her relief, junior pitcher Taylor Davis, came in and allowed only two runs on two hits. Offensively, the Coyotes could not match up against their opposition. CSUSB softball can not tame SFSU

Devan Lee |Staff Writer| It was a roller coaster ride for Coyote women’s softball the weekend of April 19 against the SFSU Gators. The Lady Yotes would go on to win just one of the four games in their series against the Gators. “As a team we went into this weekend thinking we were going to play for each other,” said senior infielder Alyssa Flores. According to Flores dealing with the losses was difficult to bear after coming off of a four game winning streak. “It was tough to deal with those losses, because I know we are a much better team than what we showed,” said Flores. CSUSB water polo comes up short

By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| Coyote women's water polo fell short again losing to both Pomona-Pitzer (10-15) and University of La Verne (11-19) on Sat. April 6. On Saturday morning, the Coyotes prepared for a non-conference match up against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. It was senior day, which marked the end of careers for seniors Georgina Bray, Heather Bertram, Sierra Deforge and Misty Vu as well as the final home match of the 2012-2013 season. The first half of the match appeared to be in favor of the Sagehens as they took the lead in the first and second quarters of playing time.
