American Country Countdown Awards

By Rebekah Deponte |Staff Writer| The American Country Countdown (ACC) Awards happened May 1 at The Forum in Inglewood. The event embodied the roots of country music, acknowledging artists who have shaped the industry, as well as celebrating the shift in the genre's sound that has been inspired by country newcomers. The ACC Awards are based on the weekly radio show "American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks" and recognized country music artists' yearly achievements based on album sales, radio play, and streaming data. Coachella and Stagecoach being one of them.  These music celebrations range in different genres like Indie, Country, and Rap. Festival season is a great way to meet and experience artists that are unlikely to be heard of otherwise. Students elaborate on the festival favorites this year ranging from the main headliners to the rookies. Festivals season approaches

Coachella, Stagecoach, Beyond Wonderland, Crush, and Epicenter are happening at local Southern California venues. Residential assistants get students dancing

By Kenneth Young |Staff Writer| Country Line dancing made its way to CSUSB on Oct. 21, between the Joshua and Mojave buildings at Serrano Village. The event was organized by Tommy Slocumb, the residential assistant (RA) for the Joshua Building. The event lasted an hour, with approximately 20-30 student participants. Every quarter, each RA from Serrano Village organizes two events that are open to both residents and commuters. The President opened his State of the Union address with a quote from President John F. The album sold over 500,000 copies on its release date and is expected to top a million copies according to Billboard. Along with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the first single that's been topping the charts since it's release two months ago, tracks like "Everything has Changed" and "Treacherous" have claimed their spots at the top of iTunes' charts. Women’s cross country outstanding record breaking season

by Ashlynne Macan | Staff Writer | The CSUSB women’s cross country season is coming to an end and this year they have broken a nine-year-old school record while marking their personal record times. Coach Tom Burleson, who oversees the women’s cross-country team, said that the girls started training last spring to prepare for the season that started in August. While they had the summer to train, they still had other things to focus on. These girls are not just athletes; they are students first and this year has been intense. Scotty McCreery new American Idol

By Brittany Filippini |Staff Writer| After wowing the judges and fans with a youthful, boisterous voice,  17 year-old Scotty McCreery is the new American Idol. McCreery was given the title of American Idol on last week’s season 10 finale. A reported 122 million votes, according to People magazine, were cast to determine who would be America’s next “Idol.” McCreery won over American hearts, leaving 16 year-old Lauren Alaina, who was also an aspiring country singer, as the season’s runner-up.
