Coyotes “Howl at the Moon”
By Mary Moreno |Staff Writer| Over 1600 people shook their booties on Oct. 25 at the third annual "Howl at the Moon" hosted by the San Manuel Student Union (SMSU) Program Board. Those in attendance were able to rub elbows with the likes of Batman, the Power Ranger and various sexy versions of Dorothy Gale from Kansas. At 10 pm the dance floor was a barren land with many succumbing to the wallflower effect. Once the fashionably late crowd arrived everyone was taken in by DJ SkyHigh's beats like the quintessential dance movie CSUSB students brought it. Ana Gonzalez and Jay Garcia came dressed as Kiki and Jiji the cat from the anime movie "Kiki's Delivery Service." "I am … [Read more...] about Coyotes “Howl at the Moon”
When are you too Old to Dress Up for Halloween?
By Maria Perry |Staff Writer| It’s Halloween, the full moon is out, the ghouls are dancing and you’re stressing out. Kids up and down the block seem to be in disguise as cats, mice, ghosts, and all sorts of ghastly critters. So what’s the dilemma? Every year we get older yet we ponder the question: Am I too old to dress up? Dressing up for Halloween has no age limit because it is a way for many people to get in the spirit of this holiday. Many students I interviewed still dressed up, but some students, such as Jasmine Magee, Ricardo Ramirez, and Adam Ghossein either thought it pointless to spend money on an outfit that would be worn only once a year or were not raised in a … [Read more...] about When are you too Old to Dress Up for Halloween?
How to create an affordable Halloween costume
By Brittany Crow | Staff Editor| Country Line dancing made its way to CSUSB on Oct. 21, between the Joshua and Mojave buildings at Serrano Village. Every quarter, each RA from Serrano Village organizes two events that are open to both residents and commuters. With this in mind, Slocumb jumped at the chance to host the country line dance. “I’ve had a passion for country music since I was a child,” Slocumb said. “And country line dancing was exactly how I wanted to express that.” A love for country … [Read more...] about How to create an affordable Halloween costume
Costumes within a student budget
By Marissa Mooney |Asst. A&E Editor| Halloween is just around the corner and now that midterms are over, students are in search for the perfect costume. On a college student budget, costumes can be expensive for something being worn only once a year. Generic costumes can run as much as $30 to $90 at stores like Target and seasonal Halloween shops. “It can be expensive to buy a costume from a Halloween store. I prefer exploring thrift stores or making my own costume. It’s cheaper and more original. I think some good costume ideas are superheroes, movie/cartoon characters, and it’s always nice to think outside the box,” said student Christine Hebert. The quality of costumes … [Read more...] about Costumes within a student budget

Attending sporting events are not just about seeing your favorite team score a touchdown, hit a home run or score the winning goal, it’s about the atmosphere you create when you attend these athletic events. One way sports fans create a fun atmosphere when they attend these events is by flaunting their favorite team in a variety of costumes. Halloween How-to’s and guide for the fall’s best costume ideas
by Renee Etcheberria | Staff Writer | Trick or Treat, finding the perfect costume always seems to be quite the feat. Halloween is but days away and this year’s trends are all over the place from the risque to the ridiculous. This is the one day of the year where women can parade around in provocative outfits making it socially acceptable to wear underwear as outerwear. Sexy is encouraged even borrowing from children’s characters such as Strawberry Shortcake or Snow White. While women adorn their limited amounts of clothing, men can feel good about dressing as their favorite superhero without the risk of embarrassment. Some men take the easy way out by throwing on a sports jersey. It’s … [Read more...] about Halloween How-to’s and guide for the fall’s best costume ideas
