Students sizzling in battle

By Joel Cruz |Staff Writer| Ginger and soy sauce marinated steak, zucchini and jalapeño wrapped shrimp and a pico de gallo and grilled onion steak were just a few dishes featured as CSUSB Dining Services hosted its third annual Copper Chef Competition on Feb. 23 at the Upper Commons to showcase the cooking talents of students that participated.     The event was free to enter and free to watch, with its format mimicking the style of the reality television program “Iron Chef.”   The competition was originally composed of four teams of two students, each but one team did not show up and gave the remaining three teams a better chance to win.   The first … [Read more...] about Students sizzling in battle

The Copper Chef student cookoff

By Mintimer Avila |Staff Writer| The heat turned up as students put their cooking skills and creativity to the test. CSUSB Dining Services hosted its first Copper Chef Tournament at the Upper Commons on Feb. 17, where competitors were given one hour to prepare a dish that must be accompanied with a salad. The real challenge, however, comes from the mystery ingredient that is announced only a minute before the event starts and must be used in the main dish. Homecoming 2014 is in the works

By Erin Campbell |Staff Writer| CSUSB is proud to present the 4th Annual Yotie Gras Homecoming Week. This special week is scheduled with many events where students can come together for a fun time and to relieve some stress. The schedule of events starts off with a pre-homecoming celebration at the basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 1. CSUSB will play Cal Poly Pomona in the Coussoulis Arena. Women play at 5:30 p.m. and men play at 7 p.m. Homecoming Week officially starts Monday, Feb. 17 with the Copper Chef Competition located in Obershaw Dining Room A at 5:30 p.m. Four teams of chefs will be competing for the most votes based on their presented entrees.
