Amazon looks to make shopping easy

By Erika Aguilar  |Staff Writer| Amazon will be experimenting with a new pilot program while continuing to expand its business in the U.S. by planning to open 20,000 grocery stores within the next decade. The pilot program consists of opening 20 grocery stores at locations including, Seattle, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and the Bay Area, according to Business Insider. Amazon will also be testing out two different concepts during its program. Ten of the grocery stores will be "click and collect" which will allow customers to shop online and schedule a time to pick up their items at the store, according to Fortune news. An apple a day keeps the FBI away

By Estafania Torres |Staff Writer| Many people would have assumed that Apple would have chosen the most ethical route when asked to break into the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone. It was a surprise when Apple denied helping the FBI, but ultimately Apple made the best decision for their business. The FBI asked Apple to make a backdoor that would help break into the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone. This backdoor, which does not even exist (yet), not only grants access to this specific phone but to all Apple phones. American Apparel files for bankruptcy

By Melanie Limon | Staff Writer | American Apparel, a clothing store most famous for its outrageous prices and negative drama, has finally received what was coming to them this past Monday when they declared bankruptcy. Crippled by its $19.4 million debt and their incredible decrease in sales American Apparel is now forced to acquire help from its financial lenders. The company's plan, as stated by The New York Times, is to partake in debt-equity swap. Here they would exchange debt for shares of their company. University Dance Company’s “For the Love of Dance”

By Carly Woolley |Staff Writer| The University Dance Company (UDC) presented their annual showcase “For the Love of Dance” on Feb. 13. They left the audience in shock with their quick transitions from ballet to street hip hop. UDC is comprised of Cal State students, alumni and community members. These dancers have been diligently working on choreography and rehearsing their routines since September of last year. For many, the UDC is an outlet to display their passion for dance. Motown influences Black America

Pfau Library and Black Faculty, Staff and Student Association presented a lecture last Thursday, “Remembering Motown: The Politics of Sound and Performance.” According to the chair of theatre arts department and host Kathryn Erwin, the seminar covered how “Motown influenced popular culture and re-created the image of Black America.” The event was part of the Noontime Lecture Series held by the Pfau Library and took place Feb. 16 on the fourth floor.
