The Roots of Coyote Radio en Español

Coyote Radio en Español is a special program of Coyote Radio, directed by Dr. Gallegos-Ruiz and Lacey Kendall. The program started in 2009 when Lacey Kendall, Director of Coyote Radio, met two students that wanted to start a show in Spanish. Student volunteers directed the show for a few years until they graduated.Later, Dr. Gallegos, a professor of Communication, spoke to Kendall and asked if there was a way to involve her students in a journalist media broadcast experience. “She was the one who brought it back to life and told me, how about instead of sending you two students, I’ll put the whole class on task,” said Kendall. Transforming Transfers

By Nylles Vernon |Staff Writer| Transfer students from out-of-state colleges and other college institutions share their experiences regarding the transfer process. Helen Nguyen, a biology major who recently transferred from San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC), said that the process was long and tiresome. “I spent about two and a half years at my community college before I was fully ready to transfer. The time I spent there allowed me to get my associate to transfer degree and be admitted into CSUSB,” said Nguyen. Professor Spotlight: Sid Robinson

By Tommy McCardle |Staff Writer| When Sid Robinson isn’t enjoying a round of fantasy football or at a Dodgers game, he is teaching at CSUSB. Robinson is also busy on the campaign trail running for City Council in the city of Upland, California. Robinson is a new professor on campus this fall quarter, however he isn't a new face to the educational institution.  He was the associated vice president of Public Affairs for the school from 2002-2014. "My pledge is to bring an open-minded, rational and collegiate approach to our City Council for the overall good of Upland," according to Robinson's campaign website, Sid4Upland.com. New COMM club

CSUSB’s forensic team competes

CSUSB alum elected CSU almuni president

In July Poole was inaugurated and has since partnered with CSU for a highly successful Class of 3 Million campaign. The campaign is targeted towards CSU alumni where they can share their inspiring graduation stories, leave thank you messages to supportive faculty and staff, attend alumni events, and even share memorable college memories. CSUSB Spring Into Media Symposium

By Shane Burrell |Sports Editor| The 2015 Communication Symposium brought acknowledgements to communication students who are outstanding, along with students who sought more information of how to expand their future careers. The Symposium is a way for the communications department and the College of Arts and Letters to acknowledge communication students. Chelsea Galvez was awarded the prize for the Most Outstanding Mass Communications student, and Amanda Fernandez who, through all odds, triumphed over sickness to show that she is the best in radio. Speech development for Coyotes

By Daleth Quintanilla |Staff Writer| CSUSB Toastmasters empowers members to develop communication and leadership skills. Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization founded by Ralph C. Smedley in 1945. Meetings start with impromptu table talks and guests are both welcomed and encouraged to speak. Toastmasters meetings are an hour long and consist of workshops where members give speeches in a no-pressure atmosphere. Members are given a week to prepare speeches. Approximately half the meeting time is dedicated to speeches alone. Kassandra Marie Johnston is promoting communication students

Johnston is 20 years old and in her third year at CSUSB. Johnston is majoring in health science with a concentration in health management and a minor in communications. PRSSA helps promote communication students by offering weekly workshops that help develop self-branding and networking. The workshops teach students to write cover letters and resumes as well as letters for sponsorship and donations.
