Entrepreneurship to Disney, crisis to teaching, human resources to media production in film, television and radio, among other topics brought industry veterans and alumni to campus for the 2019 Communication Symposium. The event hosted live panels for careers in the communication field and culminated in the awards ceremony honoring students and faculty. On May 1, the Communication Studies Department held an all-day event that included the presentation of student awards and discussion panels. The panels started early at 9 am in the Santos Manuel Student Union Theater. The panel held alumnus that come from different aspects of the communications field, from television to public relations. Dr. Astrid Sheil keeps busy on campus

A typical day in the life of Dr. Sheil begins with a 5:30 a.m. workout session, whether it's Zumba class, lifting weights or walking her dogs. After her workout, she heads straight to work. Her days are mostly filled with meetings with students, advising them on how to make their college experience as smooth and stress free as possible. I only had one clue, I wanted to be able to use my imagination to further my activities. CSUSB Debate Team Triumphs
By Chris Johnson |Staff Writer| CSUSB's debate team brought home an array of awards from their final tournament of the school year, one of which is the Ozark National Rookie Championship held in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. According to Department of Communication Studies Interim Chair, Treadwell Ruml, communication studies undergraduates, David Allison, Ronald Dawson, Kevin Gema and Gus Shalabi all participated in the tournament.
