Criminal justice professor comments on campus police officer incident

The investigation of a CSUSB police officer who pulled a gun out on another officer continues as the university declines to comment. Coyote Chronicle has reached out to Joe Gutierrez, the Assistant Director for the Office of Strategic Communication. "We are aware of the incident and an internal investigation is ongoing. Thus, we have no further comment at this time," said Gutierrez. Celebrating Black History Month

By Carolyn Solar |Staff Writer| Black History Month is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the accomplishments that black people have made throughout history. This is a time for many students to be proud of their heritage, look back at the past, and look to the future for all that there is to come. At CSUSB, we see that the African-American population is an underrepresented portion of our student body. Of the 20,024 students enrolled in Fall 2015, 1,182 were African-American, according to the CSUSB website. It can be difficult for many students to grasp how valuable clubs or organizations are and the connections they provide. Many students, myself included, have a lot of responsibilities outside of school, but we need to prepare ourselves to be ready for the professional fields we are entering.
