CSU wants money for more students
By Daniela Rueda |Staff Writer| The California State University system hopes to get $59 million more in state funding to expand enrollment in the next academic year by 10,000 students. Gov. Jerry Brown announced that he has included an additional $157 million for CSUs in the latest version of his budget plan, according to an article on KPCC. Brown's updated budget suggests his January plan will increase the universities' $3-billion base budget by $120 million, or four percent, and does not include any new money to expand in-state enrollment, according to KPCC. Millenials are defined as individuals born in the 1980s or the 1990s, according to Merriam-Webster. This may be an alarming statistic due to reports published by Fusion stating, “that 28 million people between the ages of 18 and 34 neither go to school nor earn more than $10,000 per year.” Fusion also reported that 40 percent of the participants in the poll depend on their parents for financial support. By Chelsea Galvez |Staff Writer| The California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees approved a budget increase of $269 million for the 2015-2016 school year last week as well as a three percent compensation increase for top CSU executives. The CSU budget proposal is now subject to the approval of Gov. Jerry Brown. The proposal spells out no tuition increase. This budget request more than doubles Gov. Community colleges to offer cheaper bachelor degrees

This price is in comparison to an average tuition cost of $20 thousand for a bachelor’s degree at CSUSB. According to SFGate.com, up to 15 community colleges will be granted eligibility to offer students bachelor’s degrees after meeting requirements from the state of California. With the CSU system not meeting the CFA’s demands; they are not backing down. Water polo loses to No. 19 Cal State Northdridge
By RAY BEASLEY |Staff Writer| The water polo team fought valiantly against the heavily favored 19th ranked Cal State Northridge Matadors on April 22. Unfortunately, they were unable to achieve any momentum and suffered another heartbreaking loss with a score of 8–21. The game was a challenging one for the Coyotes, but junior sensation Misty Vu, the team’s leading scorer, was able to score six of the team’s eight goals. Her teammate Jasmine Duran scored the remaining two. Vu and Duran were not the only Coyotes to have stellar performances. Goaltender Kelsey Purkiss was able to achieve 15 saves, which was more than the total of the opposing team’s two goalies combined.
