Bjork keeps new album off of Spotify

March 7, 2015 by Archived posts 407 Comments

By Bree Reyes |Staff Writer| Bjork has decided to keep her new album "Vulnicura" off of Spotify, because it "does not feel right." The Icelandic singer-songwriter spoke to Fast Company, a business media brand, about her ordeal with her album leak, keeping "Vulnicura" off of Spotify, and her proposal for what streaming should become in the music world. "At that point, I had two years of things happening to me that I didn't want to happen to me, so my Buddhist muscle had been well exercised. Okay, another thing has happened to me that I didn't want to happen to me! I have no choice but to deal with it," said Bjork about her album getting leaked two months early, and forcing her to … [Read more...] about Bjork keeps new album off of Spotify

February 7, 2015 by Archived posts 7 Comments

By Bree Reyes |Staff Writer| Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX halftime performance was the most-watched halftime show ever, with 118.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen Music in a Billboard article. Perry opened the halftime show with her song “Roar,” while she rode a giant tiger down the center of the field and soon after used visual effects of a chess board for her song “Dark Horse.” “I wondered whether she [Katy] was on a tiger or a lion, I couldn’t tell,” said Juan Martinez, a third year at CSUSB, “She was very predictable, but I did like how she was suspended from a star and the illusion of the chess board during “Dark Horse.” The show comprised a medley of Perry’s … [Read more...] about Katy Perry roars like tiger and earns her stripes

Bringing beauty to the psycho

January 17, 2015 by Archived posts 1,086 Comments

By Bree Reyes |Staff Writer| Fall Out Boy has managed to keep their lyrical talents and instrumental expertise, officially shedding their rock/hardcore vibes for the synthesized and pop/techno scene in their new album, “American Beauty/American Psycho.” The new album has elements from their previous album, “Save Rock & Roll,” such as the theatrical introduction to “Centuries,” with the powerful thrumming of a piano and a Roman or gladiator battle-themed music video to aid in the dramatizations. Powerful lyrics such as, “You’re second hand smoke, second hand smoke/ I breathe you in, but honey I don’t know what you’re doing to me,” in the song “Irresistible” metaphorically and … [Read more...] about Bringing beauty to the psycho
