After taking the first two games at home, the Coyotes looked to take the series by winning at least one game, in the doubleheader on April 21 at the Tritons’ home turf. Unfortunately, it was just not meant to be. The Tritons won both of their home games as well, keeping their conference lead by one game when the weekend was said and done. Coyotes dominate weekend series against Wildcats
By Jessica Bracamontes |Staff Writer| The Coyotes improved to a 17–12 overall record after defeating the 15th ranked Chico State Wildcats in three out of four games April 5–7. Timely hitting and quality pitching played a major role in the Coyotes’ victories. The series began with the Coyotes losing to the Wildcats by a score of 9–1. Senior Darren Dworak scored the Coyotes’ only run on a monstrous solo shot in the second inning. The players kept their confidence and did not allow the poor offensive output spoil the rest of the weekend. Day’s walk-off home run lifts Coyotes to victory
By Spencer Hirsch |Staff Writer| Brandon Day’s three-run walk-off home run on Saturday, Feb. 4 lifted the Coyotes to a 10-8 victory and a 2-1 series win over the Azusa Pacific Cougars. The senior first baseman had a miscue on a groundball that was hit to him in the top of the sixth that could have turned into a double play and a relatively easy inning for senior left hand relief pitcher, Josh Lee. The Cougars took advantage as they scored two runs to regain a one-run lead. “Physically it wasn’t there for me in the field today, but I knew I would get a chance to redeem myself in the ninth,” said Day. Day prepares for life after graduation

His ultimate goal is to play professionally, but he does have a sound backup plan that is centered on education. Day will be receiving his Bachelor of Arts in psychology this June. He hopes to keep sports at the forefront of his career, as he wants to become a sports psychologist. It was at Riverside Community College when Day first realized he wanted to get into this field. “I had numerous sports psychologists come talk to me at RCC. Coyote baseball hunting for deep playoff run this season

Their 20-18 record was not quite good enough, as they missed out on the conference playoff tournament by just a few winning percentage points. "It's always very disappointing when you do not make the playoffs, because once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen," said head coach Don Parnell. Junior center fielder Ethan Chapman feels they should have had a much stronger finish to the season. "We didn't live up to our expectations. Coyotes Pond, Caruso, Day are MLB draft hopefuls
By Spencer Hirsch |Staff Writer| Josh Pond, Cory Caruso, and Brandon Day are looking to follow in Aaron Brooks’ footsteps Josh Pond, Cory Caruso, and Brandon Day would love to have a deep playoff run and make it all the way to the NCAA Division II Baseball College World Series in North Carolina. The icing on the cake for the three of them will occur at season’s end in June if they are drafted and sign with a major league team. Coyote right-handed pitching phenom Aaron Brooks did it last year as he was drafted and signed by the Kansas City Royals.
