The hearing for DeVos took place last Tuesday, Jan. 17, before the Senate committee regarding her nomination for Secretary of Education. It was televised and also made available online by Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network (C-SPAN). The Secretary of Education is responsible for—among with other duties—overseeing educational policies, managing Federal Aid banks and distributing millions in Pell Grants. Every four years, the Oval Office is up for grabs. 2016 presidential elections kicked off with 24 candidates and now, only three remain in the race for the presidency. Sixteen candidates have dropped from the Republican Party, two of them being Kasich and Cruz who have both left leaving Donald Trump as the only runner. Students from more than 100 campuses including the UC system and some private colleges on the east coast showed their support during the march.
