By Kaila Morales |Staff Writer| CSUSB’s baseball team was swept in a four-game series against the nationally ranked Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. This weekend's performance, which was up against California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) first place team in the South Division, was a tough matchup that did not displayed the Coyote's abilities. The CCAA series opener took place on April 29 at Fiscalini Field, where left-handed pitcher Don Sullivan got the start. Sullivan threw a total of 102 pitches over eight innings, allowing four hits, all singles, no walks and six strikeouts. Coyote baseball’s bats were hot against UC San Diego Tritons

After taking the first two games at home, the Coyotes looked to take the series by winning at least one game, in the doubleheader on April 21 at the Tritons’ home turf. Unfortunately, it was just not meant to be. The Tritons won both of their home games as well, keeping their conference lead by one game when the weekend was said and done. Baseball clicking as playoffs approach
By Jessica Bracamontes |Staff Writer| The Coyotes continued their winning ways at home as they took three out of four games from the Cal State East Bay Pioneers April 14–16. This series gave the ‘Yotes six wins in their last eight games at home. The Coyotes increased their overall regular season record to 20–13 and their CCAA record to 17–11. Head coach Don Parnell explained what his players did well to pick up the series win. “We played good defense, pitched really well and swung the bat enough to win,” said Parnell. Caruso and Winn help in big victory
By Spencer Hirsch |Staff Writer| Senior pitcher Cory Caruso and junior outfielder Matt Winn were instrumental in the Coyotes 6-3 victory at home on Feb. 11 over CSU Dominguez Hills. Caruso notched his first win of the season, as he gave the Coyotes 7 1/3 strong innings, holding the visiting Toros to only three runs. Caruso’s toughest inning came in the top of the seventh. Trailing 5-2, the Toros were threatening with one out and runners on first and second. Caruso had struggled momentarily with his control, as he hit the first batter and walked the third batter, throwing an uncharacteristic wild pitch in the inning as well.
