Alicia Keys: Getting gritty and political

By Yena Hong | Staff Writer | After four years since her last album release, Alicia Keys is back with her new album “Here” which was released through RCA Records on Nov. 4. The album “Here” contains 18-tracks with different musical styles like groovy, dancy and slow-jam includes “The Gospel,” “Pawn It All,” “Holy War” and so on. Throughout the album, Keys showcases her soulful voice that perfectly balanced the different instruments used; acoustic guitar, piano, and drums. The band is known for having a unique sound that falls under various genres like electronic, dance-rock and pop. Their songs are upbeat and contain a playful vibe that makes you want to go back to summer. Kings Of Leon Releases A New Album

By Yena Hong |Staff Writer| Kings Of Leon released their seventh studio, 10-track album "WALLS" on Oct. 14. "Walls" is a collaboration of calming acoustic guitar and a lead singer Caleb’s soulful voice, creating plaintive feelings throughout a slow tempo. “I really liked the song 'Walls' by Kings of Leon, even though it made me feel depressed," said student Marissa Ramiret. "It has a nice, slow rhythmic beat and peaceful message,” continued Ramiret. "Waste A Moment," is suggestive of their first single released "Sex On Fire". They both have similar tempo and melody. Week 5 Radiohead’s comeback to the studio

By Rafael Velasquez |Staff Writer| Alternative band Radiohead bounced back to the studio scene with their new album, "A Moon Shaped Pool," on May 8. The success of their last album "The King of Limbs" released in 2011, the band had a lot of following up to do.  "I like Radiohead. They bring back some of the old 80s style back into their music," said student Chris Ramos. The album was phenomenally done. The music and lyrics portrayed images of drug use, depression, and wasted time, but also with the optimism of turning life around in a positive direction.
