Students thoughts on what’s hot in theaters

October 22, 2015 by Archived posts 86 Comments

By Melanie Limon | Staff Writer | CSUSB students reveal their true love for odd-ball sci-fi horror movies and thought provoking romance films. When it comes down to it, what makes us want to go see a movie? Is it the plot? is it the actors or is it all the hype that is correlated with the movie? "When I go watch a movie, I look for depth. I don't like movies that are super predictable or that want to just entertain. They have to be thought provoking and different." said student Celina Delgado. She continues, "My favorite movie is "500 Days of Summer" because it doesn't sugarcoat anything. That's how I like movies to be. They have to be realistic." When asked about what … [Read more...] about Students thoughts on what’s hot in theaters

This allowed the audience to sympathize with people who have been subjected to some sort of physical, mental or verbal abuse because of their identity. Actors should not be punished for having tattoos

February 15, 2013 by Archived posts 3 Comments

By Jazmin Jett |Staff Writer| On a scale of one to offensive, how much do the tattoos that actors and actresses adorn actually matter, in regards to the characters they play? According to the opinions of the media and viewers alike, they matter a lot. CSUSB student Mackenzie Viera said, “No one should be penalized for their being unique; especially actors and actresses. They should be judged by their talent”. For the most part, the characters that actors and actresses immerse themselves in are shy of tattoos. They’re usually left to exude the depth of their character throughout the film, as opposed to relying on aesthetics. I’ve always had several anecdotes as to why actors … [Read more...] about Actors should not be punished for having tattoos

When a “winner” starts to lose it

March 14, 2011 by Archived posts 10 Comments

Here's a prediction: Charlie Sheen will be either dead or in prison by the end of the year. The popular actor, who has appeared in such classics as Shadow Conspiracy and All Dogs Go To Heaven 2, has spent the past few years playing one of the central characters on the nation's highest-rated television sitcom, Two and a Half Men. It was a gig that established Sheen as the highest paid television actor working today, earning an estimated $1.8 million per episode. But in recent weeks he has become known for something completely different. He has been in the middle of a media firestorm, firing off nonsensical outbursts and trashing the people he worked with, including his shows … [Read more...] about When a “winner” starts to lose it
