Luis Alberto Bautista has made quite a name for himself over the past few months.
Known for his screaming pose within his Facebook profile picture, Bautista has been a frequent commenter on the Confessions Facebook page since its establishment back in October.
The CSUSB Student Confessions page has since generated over 2,400 likes on Facebook, giving Bautista more recognition than he could have imagined, earning him the nickname “Screaming Pose Guy” by other commenters.
“I never really had any goals per say,” said Bautista when asked about what made him start to comment on the page. “It was just sort of a I’m bored, I’m gonna start commenting on each and every [post] because I can.”
Bautista thought of the screaming pose at a local event held for students called “Pride Prom.”
“They [take] a picture before you go in and one of them is a formal picture and the second one was a funny picture and so none of us were doing anything so I got it started and that’s where I made that pose, that screaming pose,” said Bautista.
Little did he know that the pose would be how he is recognized by others today.
With a goal to succeed and advertise himself, Bautista was inspired by Michael “Memes Guy” Diaz to create a ‘like’ page of his own, but after some careful thinking he felt uncomfortable about the decision, thus the advertisement of his “Screaming Pose Guy” page was stopped.
“I’m not going to continue promoting it on the [Confessions] page because I don’t want to seem annoying,” said Bautista.
However, anybody that is well known will have some people that will try to bring them down. “Screaming Pose Guy” has received some criticism by anonymous posters on the confessions page.
“When a lot of people started noticing me, it was expected because not everyone’s gonna like you and I’m okay with it,” he said. “I’m not there to prove anything to anyone or entertain everybody. If they don’t like me, they don’t like me, I’m indifferent about it.”
Though Bautista has earned himself some fame he remains humble and modest. Studying neuropsychology he hopes to one day work in a mental ward to help the mentally ill.
Besides his scholarly goals Bautista has a strong interest in music and acting.
He dreams to form a band. “I don’t want to get super famous, but I at least want to make a living out of it. At least for a while so I can live that life, that musician’s life and then I also want to be an actor.”
Originally with long hair, he cut it for a job opportunity which he says he never got, but what he did with his hair after it was cut only shows more of his caring side for others.
“I’ve been wanting to donate my hair to Locks of Love or something like that and I finally did it,” said Bautista.
If anybody were to see Bautista on campus they may not know it is him.
Keeping mostly to himself, Bautista enjoys being recognized, but would rather remain just another student attending CSUSB hoping to achieve his goals as a neuropsychologist, musician and actor.
