From underground hip hop artists, to mainstream EDM DJ’s all the way to R&B’s hottest new artists, I’ve got the fire for your headphones!
Without further ‘ado, here’s what your fellow ‘yotes are listening to this quarter to help them get through long school nights and chill nights with friends.
So you’re getting ready to go out and party the night away, what’s the first song you play to get yourself pumped? “‘Hotline Bling’ by Drake, ’cause this song is hyphy as [email protected]*$, ” said student Enrique Chavez.
It’s no big surprise that Drake has dominated the charts all year long.
His album “If Youre Reading This Its Too Late” had everyone wildin’ out from the night of his surprise release and throughout his performance at Coachella earlier this year.
Whether he is featured in various artists albums or dropping “diss” tracks, Drake has proven to excel as an artist.
His last project “What a Time To Be Alive” with trap artist Future killed first week sales on Sept. 20.
The fans are definitely keeping their ears open for his upcoming album “Views From the Six.”
Although hip hop is a go-to turn up genre for most of us, it isn’t everyone’s preference.
Let’s be real, most of us pre-party just to go out and party some more. So choosing a song is definitely critical in setting the right atmosphere.
Students like Ralphie Alvarez said, “I hit up the Duke Dumont station on Pandora for my pre-games.”
Adam Dyment, better known as Duke Dumont is a London, England based DJ and deep house genre producer, best known for his singles “Need U,” “I Got U” and “Wont Look Back.”
Let’s say it’s a weekday and you’re just relaxing with friends or invite a special girl/guy over. What then? What do you play? Bryson Tiller! That’s who.
This up and coming artist has blown up on Apple Music. You can most definitely relate his music back to influences like Drake.
“Tiller however, has named himself the creator of a style called Trap Soul, which is in fact the name of his album,” according to Pearl Grillz website.
“One duo, I cannot get over is Justin Bieber and Skrillex,” said student Ashley Vidrio. “My favorite song at the moment is ‘Sorry,’ the beat just gets me going when i’m at the gym!”
Justin Bieber has made a huge comeback this year. His new album “Purpose” is dropping on Nov. 13 and will include the singles “What Do You Mean” and “Sorry.”
For all of you who are not really into mainstream music, like student Edgar Arreola, and prefer “underground hip hop” you should watch out for underground rapper Knxwledge. “Hud Dreems” is his latest beat tape release. He also contributed to Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” album.
No matter when, where or who you’re with, we’ve got a song or artist to set the mood and help you kick-start a playlist.
“You’re welcome.” (Sadie Saxton’s voice “Awkward”)
