October has finally arrived, and while most people are excited for fall festivities and haunted hayrides, the forgotten gem of the month is the baseball postseason.

This year’s field included the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals. These eight teams battled it out over the course of October to try and earn a spot in the World Series.
The series is scheduled to begin on Oct. 24 and could potentially go through Nov. 1.

Regardless of where you go, the playoffs are everywhere. Whether it is a local sports bar to meet with friends for wings or sitting down for a family dinner, televisions everywhere are tuned in to the Major League Baseball playoffs. PizzaDilly is a Dodgers-themed pizza restaurant in Colton where many Dodgers fans gathered on Oct. 5 to watch the Dodgers vs Diamondbacks game. Owner Anthony Lewis sees a difference in his customer’s enthusiasm during the regular season and during the postseason.
“Everybody has their eyes on the TVs around the restaurant and can’t take them off,” said Lewis. “During the regular season, you see people come in for a few innings and take off, but if you come in during the playoffs, you’re here for a few hours.”
Now the final four teams have been set as the championship series startup. The Yankees are set to take on the Astros in the American League and the Dodgers are set to take on the Cubs in the National League.
With teams from four major cities–Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and Chicago–everyone will have a team to root for.
