Artistic Bubble Outside Bubble
Students, faculty and staff have been producing their artworks throughout the academic year, most noticeably this Spring quarter, in the art department.
They have also been displaying their artworks throughout the year at art events.
Contemporary art historian, curator
and writer Matthew Poole, was one of the faculty members featured as a lecturer as part of the Senior Seminar Lecture Series on March 8 in Room 101 in the Visual Arts building.
The series included presentations that were held from Jan. 19 to March 8.
Students also have been displaying their artwork within the same time period at the Student Gallery in Room 106 in the visual arts building.
Nancy Perry, Edward Lance Montgomery and Deana Romo will display their Before and After artwork until May 5 at the Alumni Art Show.
Artist Cassandra Jones will continue with the series of art displays in her Exquisiteness of Life, which includes a combination of ceramics, drawings and sculptures, on May 11-19 at the Student Gallery.
Museum artworks have also been displayed since late last quarter at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA).
Timothy Haerens’s, A Senior Moment, a mix of paintings, collages
, and sculptures, was initially displayed March 10-17 at the RAFFMA.
Tim Hicks’s art also was on display from March 24 to April 7.
More artwork will continue to be displayed at the museum.
Dot Photo Club will display their photography work starting today until May 5 at the RAFFMA.
Sapira Cheuk will display her paintings May 12-19 at the MFA Show in the museum.
The annual Arts and Music Festival will be the most essential event where the Art Department will show its true colors which will be held May 13 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m on campus.
The festival will feature live performances from local bands, jazz orchestras, Latin jazz ensembles, and Salsa dancing and also a series of art displays such as the Art Fair and Kid’s Art and Crafts.
The 4th annual Best of the Bands and the 6th annual Jazz Fest will be the core performers at the festival.
The Jazz Fest will feature on campus group Latin Jazz Ensembles which will perform from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Orchestra Salsa Caliente and the Salsa Dancing will both be held afterward from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The festival will also feature the Art Fair which will exhibit and sell artwork from over 50 California artists in front of the RAFFMA museum.
