The mini-series is based on Stephen King’s bestselling suspense novel 11/22/63.
The show will be streaming exclusively on Hulu, and will consist of nine hours with no current release date.
Franco will be playing a high school English teacher named Jake Epping, who is given the opportunity to travel back in time to 1963 in an attempt to prevent President Kennedy’s assassination.
His mission is compromised by Kennedy’s assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, and it becomes clear that messing with the time continuum is not a good idea.
11/22/63 is the first television series that Franco is starring in since his appearance in “Freaks and Geeks”.
“Freaks and Geeks” only aired for one season
Although the show did not last for long, it launched the careers for now-famous actors Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segal.
“The show was legendary even though it was only for one season, it solidified Franco, Rogen, and Segel’s careers,” said second year student, Brandon Sanchez.
Franco shows his versatility as an actor, going from stoner-slacker in Freaks and Geeks to motivated teacher in “11/22/63”.
“Of course I watched ‘Freaks and Geeks’, I thought Franco was one of the more funnier actors in it,” said student Aimee Alvarez, “You also can’t deny that he is so cute and adorable.”
Franco is most widely known for his comedic roles in films such as “Pineapple Express”, “This is the End”, and his newest film, “The Interview”.
However, he has ventured into a few more serious roles, such as in “127 Hours” and “Spiderman”.
“He is a great actor in fact he is my favorite actor,” said fourth year student, Jenni Perez, “I will definitely be watching “11/22/63” because anything that James Franco is in is worth the watch.”
In addition to acting, Franco is an active writer, director, producer, and teacher.
“I heard he’s teaching at UCLA and I think it’d be really cool to take a class that he teaches” said student Rodger Ramos
If you are a Franco fan, make sure to be on the lookout for the release date of “11/22/63”, you won’t want to miss it.
