A letter to my Queen: Cherie Caston-Newt..
The greatest thing that a mother can give her child is love. Throughout my entire relationship with my mom, she has rooted for me and encouraged me to be the best man that I can be. She is truly the inspiration behind all of my life aspirations.
When I think of the perfect woman, one woman comes to mind: my mother. My mom raised me into the man who I am today and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. Since childhood, I’ve seen my mother fight through the obstacles of being a black woman. Even today, she continues with the resilience to keep going. She has never given up on me and I aim to show her day in and day out that nothing will keep me from loving her as I do.
I’m a “Mama’s Boy” in every sense of the phrase as anyone who has seen our interaction could easily tell.
She was the first woman who loved and the first woman who I loved. She is the type of person that is always smiling. In fact, she is the real reason I love Christmas time. I don’t think she remembers this, however growing up, we would watch “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” together as she would sing all the songs to me, each year. It’s moments like those that allow me to cherish my mother.
She is the epitome of all goodness in the world. A true angel in human form and even if I gave her the world, it wouldn’t reciprocate for the world she’s created for me. Her melodic voice still brings my mind to peace and every piece of me will forever be embedded to making sure I make her proud. Her stellar beauty will forever be a symbol of serenity and tranquility. May every accomplishment I achieve in life be a token of my appreciation for the future she has provided for me.
A message to my mother: thank you for everything, your love never goes unnoticed.
