Bad Ass Coffee (Company)

October 22, 2018 by Karina Escamilla 1 Comment

A local, Hawaiian-themed coffee shop brought the taste and feeling of Aloha to Rancho Cucamonga at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii.

The shop has developed its loyal customers over its nine years of business at their Rancho location and has a very laid-back and welcoming environment, which is what sets this spot apart from others.

Here you can get 100 percent Kona Coffee, varieties of drinks containing unique flavors, and coffee ice cubes in your iced beverages.

The Kona blend originates from Kona, Hawaii, where the native donkeys carry the coffee beans throughout the island. These donkeys came to be called “The Bad Ass Ones”, giving the small franchise its name.

The blend was described to me by one of the owners and its managers, David Wagner, as being “smoother and earthier than most blends.” He also said “A lot of people first try it in Hawaii and then they find out about our shops here in the states and it keeps them coming.”

Some lattes on the menu contain interesting flavors including cherry, toffee, tiramisu, and many more. These can be mixed with common flavors like caramel, vanilla, and chocolate and be made iced, hot, or blended.

These have fun and surfer-type names like the Haole’s Revenge, made with white chocolate and tiramisu.

The owner recommends their classic, Bad Ass Mocha, made with dark and white chocolate.

Wagner told me the shop is family owned, which adds to their comfortable environment. He stated “My wife and I had visited the first location in Hawaii and loved it so much we decided to open this one up. Families and kids from the local high school and community college are always in, and on weekends we get a lot of families with their dogs.”

When I asked Wagner what he believed made the shop unique, he said that not only having the fun Hawaiian theme but also brewing Hawaiian coffee makes it stand out from other coffee shops.

Merchandise ranging from shirt, hats, Chapstick, and cigars can be found in the shop sporting the companies logo.

I certainly like knowing that my drinks will not get watered down, and everything from the extensive menu, fun flavors, and the great customer service keeps me coming back.
