Ability Awareness Fair

By Arturo Brooks and Jordan Ortega |Staff Writer| Recently, CSUSB students attended an Ability of Awareness Fair to get a better understanding of the struggles of students with disabilities. "I would say the student participants are excited about the event. We had a bigger turn out. Over 200 people" said Finance and Administrative Coordinator, Christina Johnston. Guest speaker Peggy O'Neil engaged students with her talk about "Overcoming Adversity and Awakening Inner Greatness". CSUSB Community Join for Coyote Cares Day

By Daisy Figueroa & Jordan Ortega |Staff writers|  Almost 700 students gathered for the fifth annual Coyote Cares Day to help organizations through out the Inland Empire. The event, hosted by the Office of Community Engagement (OCE) was held Saturday, April 29, as a part of their celebration for National Volunteer Week. “We want to be a good neighbor to the community,” says Diane Podolske, Director of the OCE. “The community gives a lot to us, so this is our way to pay them back.” The event is meant to help the local community support CSUSB day in and day out. CSUSB’s gender inclusive bathrooms

By Jordan Ortega & Courtney Wilkins |Staff Writers| Facilities Planning and Management is currently working toward fixing the restroom signs on campus. The estimated completion date is spring 2017, according to csusb.edu. Since 2016, California voted to change the restroom policy for all genders to be able to use the same or a neutral restroom. Students taking leave of absence for financial reasons

By Jordan Ortega |Staff Writer| CSUSB students have a critical decision to make if they decide to drop out or take a gap year. If taking a gap year many students do so to get some real world experience. “The latest so far is 85 percent of students are continuing their studies,” said Muriel Lopez, Director of Institutional Research. Only 15 percent of CSUSB students actually drop out or take a “leave of absence" at CSUSB. Now students have the option of delaying their education to live their lives. Modern Buddhism in the Inland Empire

By Jordan Ortega |Staff Writer| Every day, the Thien Vien Chan Nguyen Buddhist Meditation Center allows the public, regardless of religious faith, to come and visit the monastery. This past weekend Thein Vien Chan Nguyen Buddhist Meditation Center offered a vegetarian meal to members of the community.  People of all faiths are welcomed to come an enjoy a complimentary meal with the members of the monastery.  Everyone eats at the same time in a community style. If you choose to attend you need be respectful and stay for the entire event.
