A day in Japan, Drawing students’ attention to Japanese culture

Technology downgrading

By Hairuo Yi |Staff Writer| In the wake of the Samsung phone accident explosion, more and more people are starting to be aware of safety issues with new technology. Several students who are familiar with Samsung phones say that the Samsung Note 7 exploding was not so unexpected. “I wasn’t surprised at all, my phone get’s really hot,” said Samsung user Ashlee Burton. This accident is becoming a serious problem for Samsung, and not just a insignificant mistake of technology. “Everybody can make mistakes, but these are really big ones,” said Computer Science professor, Ernesto Gomez. By Hairuo Yi |Staff Writer| Juanito’s Tacos, located in Highland, is a family owned restaurant which has been attracting people’s attention with its special flavors of their homemade sauces. Kimberlyn Cruz, restaurant server, talks about her family-owned restaurant, where all the food is cooked by her mother with a homemade style. “First it started with my family and I, then we later grew causing us  to get a little bit more help with family members outside the inner group,” said Kimberlyn. Senior students on campus received plenty of useful information regarding graduation at the pre-graduation party, which was held at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Nov. 1. This event was targeting seniors, but also hosted students from earlier stages of undergraduate careers. “We set up for all students. Vegan Fresh, a restaurant that helps locals change their life style with more viable health choices for all consumers of food. Chingona Fire brings self empowerment through poetry

Felicia De La Isla, a staff member of the Women’s Resource Center said, “Chingona Fire will bring their “perspective of Latino women.” The main purpose of this event is to remove the stereotype of Latino women and bring confidence to the community. “There are lots of people not familiar with Latino culture are mixing everything,” said De La Isla. Student Perspectives on the Presidential Election

Students have their opinions about Propositions (Prop.) 64 and 63, which discusses marijuana legalization and gun control. Some students agree with Prop. 64 which legalizes marijuana; they think marijuana is similar to alcohol or tobacco. “Marijuana being legal is not a bad thing at all,” said biochemistry student, Brandan Garcia.
