The Acto Latino Theater Group performs an original piece, along with a written play by Luis Valdez at the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) theater. The group wrote the play about a year and a half ago and has been working on its organization since then. Queer and Transgender Resource Center
For the Trans Week of Remembrance, QTRC hosts various events, including the vigil and feature video dedicated to the transgender individuals' who were lost their lives this year. The memorial vigil will be held Thursday, November 15, at the library lawn at 5 pm. While the video screen will be featured throughout the week located in the SMSU building. According, to the Human Rights Campaign, 29 transgender people were murdered in 2017. This continuously occurs throughout the years. The city of San Bernardino does not have designated LGBTQ organization, so the center has become a resource not only for the campus but the community beyond too. Cody Hall competes in regionals
Cody Hall, All-CCAA golf player, represents CSUSB at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) South Central/ West Regionals in Amarillo, Texas. This year 118 individuals from 28 universities competed in the NCAA South Central/West Regional. In the first round Hall struggled due to the gusty winds in Amarillo on a 77. In the second round, he had an Eagle shot on the par-5 on the 508-yard hole finishing with a six over 77. “The winds out in Amarillo were gnarly this week," Hall said. "I struggled the first two rounds getting adjusted." The third round was best for Hall, as he hit a 69-par. Cracker Barrel, a popular restaurant on the East Coast, has arrived for the first time in Southern California and has been open for two weeks serving homestyle country food in Victorville. The franchise has been busy ever since its grand opening. Many wait an hour or more to be seated and others shop in the Old Country Store while waiting to be called. Women’s Leadership Conference
CSUSB hosted the first ever Women’s Leadership Conference open to students, faculty and staff at the SMSU Event Center on Feb. 2. The conference focused on empowering women to lead by example and to not let stereotypes diminish their success. Guest speakers Marianne Cooper and activist/author Diane Guerrero were part of the full day event with workshop sessions. “It’s exciting to see a conference that’s about empowerment,” said CSUSB President Tomas D. Civilians may seem to know or grasp an idea of an active duty military personnel's life, but many do not know the depth of it. It's a different process from deciding on enlisting to the process of enlisting, then it's time to leave home for Boot Camp. Determining a specific job as well as a duty station for the current time given also comes with the territory. Adelanto Mayor Pro Tem with Two Federal Charges
Adelanto Mayor Pro Tem, Jermaine Wright, will be arraigned Dec. 6 in Riverside for two federal charges of bribery and arson. It is suspected that an FBI agent offered Wright ten thousand dollars in bribery by using his political position to help with a commercial marijuana transportation business. On June 15, the FBI agent appeared at Wright’s business, Fat Boyz Grill Restaurant, to offer him the bribe. Wright pocketed the money, supposedly for his “non-profit." Wright then came up with a plot to burn down his restaurant, in order to receive 300,000 dollars from his insurance. He expressed his plot to an FBI informant.
