Coyote Radio and the CSUSB Department of Housing and Residential Education joined forces on Thursday, May 30, for the first ever Splash and Dash event. Students were able to participate after checking in with their student IDs and receiving a Coyote Radio stamp. A live DJ from Coyote Radio was set up in front of the volleyball court, playing upbeat songs students to the SV quad. Free food such as sub sandwiches, chips, sodas, and candy were available to students at the event. Ability Awareness Fair
As the doors open and the line piled up from the SMSU event center all the way across to the SMSU food court, people waited in this line to get into the event center for the 4th Annual Ability Awareness Fair. The 4th Annual Ability Awareness Fair was able to happen again with the help of CSUSB Office of Services to Students with Disabilities, Student Veterans Organization, and the Departments of History and English. This fair is important because it is Global Disability Awareness Day. May Day in the IE
Organizations and people in the community of the Inland Empire joined the march and gathered at Meadowbrook Park for the introduction of the May Day march. With posters, banners, music and chanting, people made their way over to the first stop at Service Employment International Union (SEIU), then to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, San Bernardino City Hall, San Bernardino County (San Bernardino county what?) and ended back at Meadowbrook Park. Reflecting on Hijab Challenge Week
Stepping out of your comfort zone can be terrifying, but sometimes in life, you have to get out of your comfort zone in order to grow, see new perspectives that life has to offer and become open-minded. Muslim Student Association club (MSA) hosted Islam Awareness week from April 22-26, 2019. This was an opportunity for CSUSB students to learn what the life of a Muslim is like. Nadine Barakat, a member of MSA, mentioned that during Ramadan Muslims fast food and water for a month. They do this from sunrise to sunset. Students raise sexual assault awareness at Teal Color Fest
Puffs of teal powder filled the air on April 19, as CSUSB students gathered to recognize sexual assault awareness month. The library lawn was buzzing with different booths and activities, all hoping to inform students about the various resources that are offered on (and off) campus. The Health Center had participants vote for their favorite celebrity couple. CSUSB Commuter Services encouraged students to spin their gaming wheel and win a prize. The Department of Housing passed out snow cones and popcorn. International Market
On April 8, the International Market event was being held for the third year at CSUSB in front of the library lawn. Majority of the students view this event as a great opportunity to learn and explore other nationalities, meet new people, and get a chance to buy from the variety of vendors. The international market event was organized by the Center for Global Management in the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration. There were different vendors displaying a variety of products for sale on the library lawn.
