We are nearing finals week, Yotes! Here are some tips and tricks to help you survive the coming week.

Know your finals’ schedule

Take an extra look at your syllabus and make sure you have the correct dates and times for your finals. Something this simple can help ease the stress and help keep you organized.

Study time

Set time aside so you can review any test material at your own pace. Create a study schedule and decide on a time and day to take your finals. Study for your first test first and set priorities. Allow yourself some breaks but don’t get too carried away. According to Neurosciencenews.com, “In a study of healthy volunteers, National Institutes of Health researchers found that our brains may solidify the memories of new skills we just practiced a few seconds earlier by taking a short rest.”

Limit the distractions

Set your phone aside or put it on ‘do not disturb’ for a little while. Limit browsing websites that aren’t school related.

Use your resources and ask question

Ask your professors questions that is what they are here for. Use the tutoring resources that CSUSB offers. Even create study groups with classmates. Virtually, of course.

Take care of yourself

Make sure to get lots of rest and stay hydrated. A healthy adult needs between 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Eat three balanced meals and snacks throughout the day.

Prepare for technical difficulties

With the entire semester being online, we have all probably encountered a technical error by now. Be sure to check your Wifi and browsers before starting your test. If you do encounter a problem during the exam, send your instructor an email immediately.

Finals begin on the week of December 7 and will last until December 12. Whether you study better alone, with a partner, or in a small group, make the time to study for your finals. Be sure to take breaks as you go and don’t pull all-nighters. You need the proper rest.

Study hard and good luck!
