Campus community’s preparation for intramural sports

Did you know that the CSUSB Recreation and Wellness Center has more to offer besides the fitness floor? In addition to the dance, yoga, grappling, self-defense, body sculpting, butts n guts and cycling classes, the Recreation and Wellness Center has intramural sports as well. Intramural sports allow students, faculty and alumni to play the sport they love without the commitment because it’s all in the fun. It’s available to those who have never played before but would like a chance to try out a sport of their choosing.  Joanna Moreno, who is the lead intramural and sports club supervisor, explained that in the spring quarter, there will be multiple sports available. San Bernardino County Hesperia High soccer team makes CIF finals

The Hesperia Boys soccer team hosted and played against Riverside’s Norte Vista boys for the CIF semi-finals on February 22, 2020. Hesperia’s Anthony Lopez scored a goal in the game’s 12th minute and led the score into half-time at 1-0. The game appeared to be in the hands of the Hesperia boys, up until the 55th minute in which Norte Vista scored and tied the game at 1-1. Both teams were close to breaking the tie during the remaining time but ended up staying tied at the 80th minute. At this point, the boys went into overtime, which again ended with the score at 1-1. CSUSB’s Alumni Night game

As a celebration for the graduates, CSUSB created an event - the hockey game for alumni - for students to watch and enjoy. The Ontario Reign hockey game will take place at the Toyota Arena, on February 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This will allow alumni to reminisce on their college experiences and celebrate with the class they graduated with. During the game, there will be a Reign hat giveaway. To be eligible for the hat giveaway, one would have to had purchased tickets through the CSUSB website under the Alumni Events tab. The ticket price for the game is $30 per person and seating in sections 215 to 219 will be available. Superbowl LIV

After over 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs found themselves at Superbowl LIV at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida against the San Francisco 49ers, who won their last Super bowl in 1995. The game on February 2, 2020 started off strong as the 49ers picked up the game and drove strong to score a three-point head start. However, the Chiefs did not let that stop them, as Mahomes ran the ball and scored the first touchdown for the game, ending the first quarter with a 3-7 score. Men’s Basketball preview CSUSB 2019-2020

The 2019-2020 season for the CSUSB Men’s basketball is primed to be an exciting one for the Coyotes. So far the 2019-2020 Coyotes are 3-1 on the season, with their only blemish coming against Point Loma in the home opener, losing 93-91 before bouncing back against Cal Poly Pomona in the CCAA opener. The Coyotes led most of the game against Point Loma, taking a 53-47 halftime lead and at one point held a 19 point lead. The Sea Lions outscored the Coyotes 46-38 in the second half. "It's a good lesson to our guys, if you don't defend [or] rebound, your going to lose no matter how well you're doing offensively," said Head Coach Andy Newman. Two-time Olympic cyclist visits campus to share his journey and inspire students

Giddeon Massie, a two-time Olympic cyclist, told his story to a compact group of students in the San Manuel Student Union theater on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Born in Pennsylvania, Massie started cycling when he was very young, having been introduced to the sport by his father. Throughout his cycling career, Massie has won over fifteen gold medals in U.S. Track Cycling Championships and gold during the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games for track cycling. He raced during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and then again in the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Sights and sounds from CSUSB women’s volleyball Senior Night

The CSUSB Women's Volleyball team made history Saturday night finishing the regular season 24-0. The Coyotes won 3-0 against Stanislaus state and marked the 18th sweep of the year.   "Going undefeated in our regular-season was a goal of ours but not something we talked about every day," Sascha Dominique said.  "We took it game by game and still have a lot of goals left to accomplish." Yotes clinch regular season championship

The Coyotes Volleyball team continued their run of dominance on Friday night, November 8,  as they swept the CSUMB Otters 3-0 here at Coussoulis Arena. The Yotes improved their record to 22-0 overall and 15-0 in conference play after upending the Otters 3-0 in a match that was very one-sided from the start. The Yotes dominated in every area. The Yotes led in hitting percentage .310 to .178. Leading the Yotes in kills was none other than All-American Alexis Cardoza with 14 kills in only 22 attempts having her at an amazing .545 hitting percentage on the night. CSUSB women’s volleyball continues to dominate

Fans that went to Homecoming bash 2019 were treated to a free game and see the  #1 ranked Women’s Volleyball team in Division II, and they were not disappointed. The Coyotes won their annual homecoming game 3-0 in a contest against Cal Poly Pomona, a school that never challenged the Coyotes before. Homecoming allows alumni to stay in touch with the university and watch the dominant Coyotes. High expectations for Coyote soccer

Expectations run high for the first home game of the season against undefeated #3 Cal State Los Angeles on October 17, 2019. In Coach Darren Leslie’s 4th year, things are clicking for the Coyotes as they were ranked as high as #13 in the nation. Thursday's home game will be a chance for the Coyotes to prove they are a legit contender in the California Collegiate Athletic Association(CCAA).  In Leslie's previous three years the Coyotes are 30-20-3, with 2018 being their most impressive, 12-6-1.
