Expressions: Breanna Polk’s diary
Day #1: 6/24/19 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. On the first day here at NBC Palm Springs - KMIR 6 News, I had the opportunity to meet the staff within the station, including the evening crew in which I was working with for the day. Today, our agenda was tagging along with the evening crew to a local site to capture a segment with an anchor named Matt who was set to go live at 5 p.m. The segment in which he had planned on capturing today will probably not be released until Thursday, June 27. Thursdays are typically the days they release the segments that take place at other locations. These small segments are ones that sometimes do not show the faces of the anchors. However, their voices are … [Read more...] about Expressions: Breanna Polk’s diary
Why did you come to Earth school?
Ever wondered what your purpose in life was? Or what force of energy makes our heart beat? Better yet, perhaps why different people go through different struggles and challenges in life. In order for us to know that a dream is a dream, we first have to wake up, and within those dreams, we sometimes gain some wisdom or an innate intuition of knowing that there was something about that dream. What if we too are in a dream? But we call it life, and once we die or transition, that is when we truly wake up. Earth is but a school for us humans to learn more about ourselves. “There needs to be contrast in order for us to understand the opposite, sometimes we grow up in a dysfunctional or … [Read more...] about Why did you come to Earth school?
The Beauty of Campus
Amidst the world of midterms, studying, and trying to balance everything else life throws at students it is important to stop and enjoy the world around you. We often associate our stressors with the place that “causes” it, in this case, our school. But really, it is the workload we have that is eating students up and when you shift your perspective, school is actually quite beautiful. It is important to be at peace with the place you go to learn and grow, not only academically, but as a person too. With most students spending an average of 4-5 years here, attending classes at least twice a week, it is safe to say CSUSB is our second home. Although it is sometimes difficult … [Read more...] about The Beauty of Campus
Tips for Studying Based on Your Sun Sign
Are finals stressing you out? Do you need new techniques for studying? Here are some tips to help you prepare for exams on your sun signs. Aries (March 21 - April 19) Aries are known for being determined and confident. Stay organized with a planner or make a list with it in the order of importance. When studying, choose a place besides home, like a coffee shop. Being away from home will motivate you to get more work done faster and whatever you do, do not forget your headphones. Being an enthusiastic sign, reward yourself after large educational leaps. Taurus (April 20 - May 20) For Taurus, the practical and responsible sign, pack … [Read more...] about Tips for Studying Based on Your Sun Sign
Introducing Our New Series: Women of Invisible Empire
“Because you are beautiful and smart, there will be lots of people who don’t like that, and they will show you that they don’t necessarily like that. Do you know what you’re going to do?” she asked. “You’re going to smile and wish them love…and then you’re going to keep being beautiful and smart—because that’s what you’re good at.” I was 6 years old when my mother explained this to me. It was her “haters are gonna hate” speech. It was and still is my favorite teaching by her. She’s the type of woman you want by your side when things hit the fan. This is slightly due to her ability to step up to the plate when it gets tough. As the oldest of six children, she was essentially … [Read more...] about Introducing Our New Series: Women of Invisible Empire
Twenty 2 Salute Hits Down N’ Dirty
Twenty 2 Salute is a Hard Rock band from the Inland Empire who started off as "The League" but later changed it to be more unique. The lead singer and guitarist Michael Schoon, bass player Mark Schoon, and drummer Raul Padilla known as J, performed at the Down N' Dirty Festival on the weekend of January 18th at the Adelanto Stadium in California. The two brothers have been surrounded by music their whole lives so it was given that one day this would be something they do together. "Our father was in a band growing up, he was in a rock band and he was a singer so it became our normal life to be in a band and we love music," said Mike Schoon. There were about 1,000 music … [Read more...] about Twenty 2 Salute Hits Down N’ Dirty
Animation is Real
Ever since I was young, I have felt an incredible attachment to animation series of all types. Cartoons have fueled my love for life more than almost anything else I have known. A lot of my intelligence, spunk, and creativity can be attributed the cartoons I hold close to my heart. I remember watching any cartoon ever in my parent’s home. I’d be minding my own business, happy as can be, and most likely lying on the floor with my feet in the air. Then my father would come in, take one look at the television and say, “Can’t you ever watch something intelligent?” To me this question was so absurd that I could only respond by sticking my tongue out and making a fart noise, only to carry … [Read more...] about Animation is Real
