CSUSB has been ranked one of the most diverse campuses in the nation, yet the different races on this campus feel there is room for improvement.

“Being black on a college campus and not being able to express yourself or be who you are because of the system that was set not to succeed.”

Alyssa Alvarez, English, 23

Jon’nea Dukes, Business Marketing, 19

Justin Wells, Psychology, 21

“To make students feel included is why it’s important to have race representation on campus.”

“I do see the effort to give us love and representation but it is not as heavy as other clubs or other groups of ethnicities on campus.”

Monique Diaz Medina, Math, 23

“It is important to be comfortable in my own skin, no matter how far back my heritage is, it is also important to see other people’s perspectives” –

Nick Flowers, Child Development, 22

“I don’t feel like we are taken seriously and we don’t really have a voice…at the end of the day we’re all students and I feel like all students should be treated equal.”

Princess Jackson, Health Science, 21

“I’m African-American and I feel like we are not being represented enough on this campus.”

Skyler Winding, Kinesiology, 20

For me, as an African American student seeing my peers say the things that I’ve said or feel makes me recognize that I’m not the only one who feels like an outsider sometimes. Keep up the good work!
