With many CSUSB students and their families staying indoors more, that means one thing: more time to spend together! Video games can bring us together in many ways, with online video games becoming more popular than ever before.

Sometimes there’s a special joy from playing an excellent local couch co-op game right beside your friends, family, significant other, or dog. These are three excellent games to enjoy with others!

Fortnite

Everyone has heard about this game at some point. Either from their family, their kids, significant others, friends, dogs, fish, or when shopping for merchandise. Did you know, though, that it now includes split-screen? Instead of telling people to get off Fortnite or to start doing their work, why don’t you start having some fun with this competitive battle royal game? In this game, players aim to be the last man standing! Two players can play beside together and say the popular modern pop-culture sentence, “where we droppin” or express anger at each other because one of you died. If you’re going to be playing with your kids, you can then get in on the popular Fortnite dances and start understanding those references kids say nowadays, so start playing! Fortnite split-screen is available only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Overcooked! 2

Overcooked! 2 serves up a funny co-op game with up to four players! In this game, four players have to serve up as much food as possible to as many people. It starts off easy with finding ways on preparing your food, but as time goes on, many hazards and obstacles come along the way that stops you from achieving your goal. If you’re ever hungry or too lazy to cook, whip up some food by playing Overcooked! 2! The game is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.

Jackbox Party Pack

Jackbox Party Pack is a staple among any party and couch game. In this game, up to eight players can play many wacky and fun games, competing for the most points. Think of funny card games or those board games you’d play together at the table. Since it’s 2020 and times have changed, you’re now all playing together beside each other – using your smartphone or tablet! Out of all these games, Jackbox Party Pack games is one of the easiest to pick up. You can play with your family, your significant other that doesn’t play video games, or any of your friends. For college students, this would be a perfect game to play with everyone – as long as they have that rectangle device that you scroll using your thumb with. Jackbox Party Pack 7 will be released on Thursday, Oct. 15 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, and more.
