Pro athletes take their aggression home
By Stephanie Woodward |Staff Writer| Domestic violence in professional sports is becoming a troubling trend that we as a society, and most importantly sports fans, should not tolerate. I believe that we have been letting our athletes off too easy and not enforcing strict punishment for their actions for too long. I believe that all our professional sports leagues need to start being more assertive with all domestic violence crimes, and create strict policies for all leagues. Domestic violence cases in professional sports have been an ongoing occurrence, but are just recently being publicized in the media. In July 2012, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested … [Read more...] about Pro athletes take their aggression home

The Seawolves walked away with a 3-0 victory on Oct. 10 making this the third game in a row that the Coyotes have lost. While the Coyote goalkeeper, Emily Whyte had two saves, in the end that didn't prove to be enough. The Seawolve's Alex Sifuentes scored the last goal of the game. The Golden Eagles and Coyotes were tied at the half, until freshman Paige Kang was able to capitalize on a rebound in overtime and was the difference maker in a close game against the Golden Eagles. Coyote defense held strong and according to Coach Travis Clarke, “if the team is able to score at least one goal in a game we have a great chance of winning”. Women’s soccer remain positive as season comes to end
By Lindsey Allen |Staff Writer| The CSUSB women’s soccer team wrapped up their season last week on a positive note with a 1-0 win over Cal State East Bay, ending the season 9-7-2 overall and 7-7-1 in the CCAA. This is the fifth consecutive winning season for the Coyotes, which is a school record. The team finished fifth in the CCAA out of 12 teams. “We played really well with a lot of new, young players. I think some of our losses were due to youth and inexperience ... we had games where we started eight freshman. The CCAA is the most competitive conference in the country, and a lot of our freshman didn’t get the chance to develop and kind of just jumped into it,” Head Coach Travis … [Read more...] about Women’s soccer remain positive as season comes to end
Three straight losses keep women’s soccer out of playoffs
By Ryan Libby |Staff Writer| If you walked into the woman’s soccer team practice you wouldn’t be able to know that they just lost three straight games and missed the playoffs. Instead, you would hear laughter and chatter about the recent mid-terms and be able to see the smiles spread across their faces. The mood was light and relaxed. It made me wonder if the stressful week of needing to win two games against opponents like Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus had weighed them down. It might have, but it also may have been inexperience. “I thought the game was even,” said Coach Travis Clarke when talking about the team’s loss to Chico on Oct. 19. “Kind of chalk that one … [Read more...] about Three straight losses keep women’s soccer out of playoffs
