The Office of Housing & Residential Life, SMSU Cross Cultural Center, SMSU Women’s Resource Center, Associated Student Incorporated and the University Diversity Committee hosted the 9th annual Tunnel of Oppression on March 4 and 5. On the first day, also know as the "active" day, the tour had actors in each section of oppression, which made the experience more personal. By Zyrus Cruz |Staff Writer| Breathtaking, shocking and horrifying images of real people suffering from hatred filled the walls of the Santos Manuel Student Union’s annual “Tunnel of Oppression.” The event was held on the second floor of the SMSU on March 4 and 5. As you enter the tunnel you saw various quotations, statistics and cases regarding oppression. Oppression is defined as, “Unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power,” according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
