Immersed in the rummage

May 29, 2017 by Elizabeth Taylor 6 Comments

By Elizabeth Taylor |Staff Writer| Hundreds of people gathered in Apple Valley this past weekend to spend and save money at the Church of the Valley’s bi-annual rummage sale. Hopes were high as shoppers descended into a sea of lost treasures and everyday needs. “Today, I’m looking for bunk beds, an end table and some tablecloths,” said local resident, Patricia Puckett. “This is a great … [Read more...] about Immersed in the rummage

March 8, 2013 by Archived posts 8 Comments

Angela Rodriguez |Staff Writer| According to Victorian Litter Action Alliance, an estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts are littered worldwide every year. Since our government legislation in the mid-2000s implemented smoking restrictions in public buildings and restaurants, the issue of cigarette butt litter has increased. CSUSB students can help reduce cigarette butts and other tobacco-related waste by joining TerraCycle Inc.’s Cigarette Waste Brigade, a free program dedicated to reducing litter. Upon participating in the program, for every pound of cigarette butts CSUSB collects, a dollar will be donated to Keep America Beautiful. According to a Cigarette Waste Brigade, … [Read more...] about CSUSB sanitizes campus from cigarette butts
