The clock struck 9 and the crowd ensued with anticipation as the barrier between them and the sale came down; people dashed and darted to make their way inside to start filling up their bags, and others pushed and pulled their carts and totes while weaving in and out of the heavy traffic of shoppers. In fact, Americans ranked the issue of global warming last on a list of environmental concerns in a March poll, according to Gallup. The jury is still out. While the scientists are busy creating new computer models to predict the earth’s demise, we can all go back to polluting the earth right? Wrong. Go Green for Earth Day

We will have a number of interactive and informative outreach tables, covering topics related to sustainability and energy efficiency run by different student organizations on campus. Students and staff will be asked at the event to take the "Go Green Pledge" which will be used to track the metrics of potential savings. CSUSB sanitizes campus from cigarette butts
Angela Rodriguez |Staff Writer| According to Victorian Litter Action Alliance, an estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts are littered worldwide every year. Since our government legislation in the mid-2000s implemented smoking restrictions in public buildings and restaurants, the issue of cigarette butt litter has increased. CSUSB students can help reduce cigarette butts and other tobacco-related waste by joining TerraCycle Inc.’s Cigarette Waste Brigade, a free program dedicated to reducing litter. Upon participating in the program, for every pound of cigarette butts CSUSB collects, a dollar will be donated to Keep America Beautiful.
