By Brittanie Gutierrez |Staff Writer| Give Something Back (GSB) presented a $1 million check to CSUSB in efforts to grow the college attendance rate. The money will be geared toward helping San Bernardino children coming from households with one or both parents incarcerated or who are in the foster care system. With this scholarship, students will be selected from ninth grade and have to take college preparatory classes, while maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. By Camillia Dababneh |Staff Writer| CSUSB student, Philip Castellanos, has dedicated himself to be a true humanitarian by helping people with a variance of special needs. Castellanos is double majoring in economics and political science, along with a minor in intercultural communications. After high school, when in need of new living quarters, Castellanos was offered a place to live in Riverside, but in return, was expected to lend a helping hand. Castellanos began living in the Room and Board, a facility that offers a place full of compassion and tenderness for people with mental illnesses, disabilities, the elderly, and sometimes even parolees.
