By Angela E. Rodriguez |Staff Writer| CSUSB students took off their shoes to join the TOMS “One Day Without Shoes” Challenge on April 10 in front of John M. Pfau Library. Students walked from 12 to 2 p.m. to raise awareness about the deprived children in less fortunate countries who have no shoes. According to the TOMS website, the leading cause of disease in developing countries are soil-transmitted infections. The site states, “wearing shoes can prevent these diseases along with cuts, sores and other infections.” By not wearing shoes, participants got to walk in the footsteps of children vulnerable to the hazards of living without these necessities. Campus “Crusaders” welcome students with open arms
By Tom Stillwagon |Staff Writer| Christians at Cal State should acquaint themselves with Andrew Farison and the Campus Crusade for Christ International. Also known as CRU (pronounced “crew”), the Campus Crusade for Christ was started in the 1950s by Bill Bright at UCLA. What started out as a small campus ministry has since grown, as CRU currently has club branches throughout the world. Farison, the CRU president at CSUSB, did not originally intend to join the club. “We did it for you”empowers CSUSB women
By Emerald Collins |Staff Writer| Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the “Star Spangled Banner” at the sight of the American flag still standing, but if it were not for the woman who spent a considerable amount of time sowing that flag, Scott’s inspiration would have never manifested. CSUSB’s Women Resource Center (WRC) has brought the play “We Did It For You: Women’s Journey Through History” written by Thea Iberal, to our campus.
