The highest recorded cases of larceny/theft since 2014 were in 2017 (82) and 2018 (89).The most significant increase was by 90% in 2018, when 89 cases were recorded. The increase rate was about 8% from 2017, when 82 cases were recorded. The cases have continued to drop since, with 28 in 2020 and 20 2021. At the moment, 18 cases representing all the crime categories have been reported to the CSUSB police and several of them are still under investigation. The sexual assault occurred on Wednesday, March 4 in a stairwell at the Pfau Library. The suspect grabbed the victim and kissed her several times on the face, then the victim kicked the suspect in the groin, causing him to flee, according to University Police. According to the e-mail, University Police personnel has more than doubled and now patrols 24 hours a day; additional personnel have been brought in from other CSU campuses to supplement our own. Online Editor| There was an incident on the CSUSB campus on March 8, at approximately 3:05 p.m. According to a campus wide email sent by Vice President of Student Affairs, Brian Haynes, a student was making a phone call outside the Pfau Library when a man grabbed her from behind, placing his hand over her mouth and told her, he intended to take her to his car. The FBI’s annual report on crime in the U.S. stated there were about 1.16 million violent crimes in 2013, the lowest since 1.09 million were estimated in 1978. All violent crimes declined last year, with rape dropping 6.3 percent. Murder and non-negligent manslaughter dropping 4.4 percent and robbery dropping 2.8 percent, according to an article by Time. Proposition 47: Felonies to misdemeanors

Proposition 47 will modify the classification of non-serious and nonviolent, property, and drug crimes.
