Students from all over California are anticipating an entirely student produced festival, featuring a weekend of amazing artists and performances. UCLA will host the 25th Annual JazzReggae Festival on Memorial Weekend, May 29-30.

The festival will be located outdoors in the beautiful Intramural Field on the UCLA campus, from 12-7 p.m.

The first day of the festival, Jam Day, will feature jazz artists with Lupe Fiasco headlining the event. Some of the featured artists performing that day are Bilal, Karriem Riggins, Quadron and Talib Kweli.

The second day of the festival, Reggae Day, will feature reggae artists with Steele Pulse headlining the event. Some of the featured artists performing that day are J Boog ,The Expanders, and Los Rakas.

The JazzReggae Fest is a huge event for UCLA. For the past 25 years UCLA’s students and staff have been hosting the festival that brings cultures, generations and communities together all in the name of great music.

Past artist that have graced the stage at the JazzReggae Festival were Barrington Levy, Cherine Anderson, Stephen Marley, Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Cherine Anderson, Mavado, and Etana.

The dedicated students who host this event want people to enjoy the music but they also want people to learn the importance of protecting and saving the environment.

The students have decided to “Go Green” during the event.

“The greening of the 25th annual JazzReggae Festival at UCLA has made great strides in minimizing its environmental impacts and producing a sustainable festival. This is due largely in part to the support of The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF),” according to the festival’s website.

At the Festival there will be water refilling stations for water bottles along with waste cluster units for recycling, trash and compost.

There will also be a sustainability tent that will give festival goers information on the environment and sustainability.

The festival will have other special features this year. The festival will have art on display with interactive art installations. Live art will be on a 360 degree canvas from renowned graffiti artist Man one and Teebs.

Custom screen printed T-shirts will also be available and a host of craft booths for festival attendees.

Tickets for this event are currently on sale and will continue to sell even on the day of the event. Ticket prices for single day pre-sale are $29 and on the day of the event for $35.
