With an Impressive season so far, the Coyotes swept the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos 3-0 during their Beat the Broncos/”Pack Attack” event on Oct. 18.
The Coyotes win puts them at 7-2 in the conference, bringing their overall record to 13-4.
Libero Abbey Vollkommer had 19 digs in front of an outstanding attendance of 674.
With a close first set, OH Lauren Nicholson and middle blocker Hailey Jackson both had kills in a seemingly comfortable first set for the Coyotes. However, service errors brought the score to a 25-25 tie.
Continuing her outstanding season, Nicholson stepped up for the team with 14 kills against the Broncos.
Coyotes forced numerous mistakes from the opposition throughout the game, causing a total of 25 errors.
Nicholson and OH Moria Murphy each had four kills, which saw them through the second set in style.
In the third and final set, they were dominant with a powerful all-round display where All-American Malika O’Brien had four kills.
The team comfortably beat Cal Poly throughout the night, winning the sets 27-25, 25-17 and 25-11.
With the win, the Coyotes moved up a spot in the AVCA Top 25 poll to number 18.
An outstanding achievement for coach Kim Cherniss as it marks her 51st straight poll appearance for the program.
