P.S. Before the race, I was the number 16 seed and did not expect to finish 5th. Many of the runners, as you see in the video, started out too fast, thus helping me to benefit from their mistakes. In contrast, I started out in the back of the pack, and, while running even splits, worked my way toward the front of the pack. My finishing time of 15:58 was my fastest 5K since 2007. And, as you know, it is difficult to run faster while getting older! It takes smart training and smart racing to run well at age 45.
