I entered CSUSB in the fall of 2006 with no clue about what I wanted to study, but I am truly happy how everything turned out.
I only had one clue, I wanted to be able to use my imagination to further my activities. One spring quarter, I can confidently say that I experienced a textbook description of a burnout which lead me to retreat from communication studies altogether for two consecutive quarters.
I changed my major a total of five times, the last change was in my concentration from mass communications to public relations.
Once regaining my composure, I had a new outlook in life and a better idea of how precise public relations can be. My next step was to remember my first love, media.
It was a field that I knew I could excel becuase I have been doing camera work and learned the fundamentals of editing all through middle and high school. But being a communications student was a long and difficult task to complete.
Yet the classes I took here at CSUSB gave me a better idea in this field and paved the way for me to have a better focus in public relations. Thus, I decided to dual major.
I have been here for the past six years of my young adult life and have been able to learn the great staff and professors of the communications department along with some unforgettable friends who gave me the chance to express my ideas.
Learning at the university level should not just be about learning and getting good grades. It should be a place where you can grow in confidence and learn to apply your knowledge to the real world. This world functions with communication.
Applying it is the easy part, where you apply it can make a difference for you and your public.
Thank you once again CSUSB, you have guided me well.
